Signs You May Need Endodontic Treatment
By Dr. Ahmed Bhatti
Tooth pain is your body's way of telling you something needs attention. Several symptoms suggest the pulp inside a tooth may be infected or inflamed and that you should see an endodontist.
Watch for lingering sensitivity to hot or cold that persists after the stimulus is removed, spontaneous or throbbing pain (especially at night), pain when biting or chewing, swelling or tenderness in the nearby gums, or a tooth that has darkened.
Sometimes the source of pain is hard to pinpoint, which is where an endodontist's training and 3D imaging help. Early evaluation often means a simpler treatment and a better chance of saving the tooth.
